- Change 1: Journal Header Information Input in Journal Entry Sheet
- Change 2: Journal Line Information Input in Journal Entry Sheet
For instructions on the GL Uploader process, please see our Journal Spreadsheet Entry and Uploader - November 2023 solution article.
Change 1: Journal Header Information Input in Journal Entry Sheet
Step 1. The first item to create for each journal is the header. Click the + (plus sign) in the journal header area to add a new header. The Journal Header text box appears.
Before: Source (Journal Source) is not visible on the Journal Header.
After: Beginning November 6, 2023, Source (Journal Source) will be visible on the template's Journal Header.
Step 2. Enter the journal header information. This is similar when you create an online journal entry. You must enter business unit, journal date, ledger group.
Step 3. You do not need to enter a journal ID if you use NEXT. Using NEXT will default the next (system generated) journal ID available in SF Financials at the time you import your journal.
Step 4. After you click OK on the Journal Header setup.
Before: You are able to go to Journal Lines and add the journal lines to the journal entry.
After: The GL Spreadsheet Uploader will prompt you after clicking OK on the Journal Header setup:
1. “Sync Template For This Session?” Click Yes.
2. Enter your credentials after clicking Yes to Sync. Click OK.
3. You will receive a confirmation message that Template Synced.
Step 5. Conditionals for GL Uploader Template Sync:
1. If you don’t close out of the GL Uploader, you will stay logged in for approximately 1 hour. Otherwise, you will be logged out and will need to log back in.
2. If you click No on the first pop-up asking permission to Sync template, you will still be able to login in by clicking Import Button(s).
3. If you click Cancel on the second pop-up requesting login credentials, you will still be able to login by pressing Import Button(s).
Change 2: Journal Line Information Input in Journal Entry Sheet
Before: There are no additional columns between Account and Fund.
After: Additional columns Alt Account and Speed Type are locked between ChartField columns Account and Fund.
The Journal Lines section has two columns labeled Alt Account and Speed Type, that cannot be moved elsewhere.
Important: The new template will now have a space between Account and Fund ChartField columns. If you have a different template from the GL Spreadsheet Uploader, you will need to alter it when copying and pasting into the new uploader template.
